Brain Building to Think Outside the Box

Holly Green, Brain Builder

Holly Green, Brain Builder

We’ve heard the phrase ‘what got you here won’t get you there.’ Think about this fact; on the Fortune 500 list 50% are gone within 10yrs. They get there, but then half of them don’t stay there because a majority of companies never want to think differently to effect change… they stay inside the box.

At the Locked ‘n’ Loaded User Group, Holly Green, Brain Expert, gave us 4 tips for thinking outside the box: Continue Reading →

2013 Summer Blockbuster Preview – Automation Nation Ranks #1

It is almost time for summer blockbuster season. As always, there’s a list of movies I can’t wait to see: Iron Man 3, Man Of Steel, The Wolverine, Red 2, 300 2, Grown Ups 2. (I would say Smurfs 2 but I haven’t seen the first so I’m afraid I might get lost in the plot.)  The interesting thing about this summer is almost all of the blockbusters are sequels. So there’s already a movie out there that you can watch to hold you over until the sequel comes out.

Last summer with the release of The Dark Knight Rises, my wife and my whole family in law spent a couple of nights leading up to the midnight release watching Batman Begins and the Dark Knight.

Well, this year there’s a summer blockbuster of another kind I want to get us ready for:  Gary Pica speaking at Automation Nation 2013.

Summer BlockbusterGary Pica is the founder of TruMethods, a consulting firm that helps IT solution providers reach their full potential as managed service providers. This summer he’ll be taking the stage as the keynote on Day 3 of Automation Nation.  So, just like getting my in-laws ready for the big summer blockbuster by viewing the prequels, I’m going to get you ready for Gary Pica at #AN13 by taking a look at a webinar he recently did here at ModernOffice Suite headquarters.

The full hour-long webinar can be viewed here. But for highlights/the brief trailer, keep on reading…

It was a dark and stormy night, there was evil lurking. An MSP sat in his car breathing deeply. In his mind his thoughts were: “I’m getting home late again and I feel like I’m not in control of my business. I know I need a business plan to get me on track, but I don’t have the time. I’m already working as hard as I can. My business is too small for a business plan.” Continue Reading →

A Peek inside Education at the House of Owl

This week I interviewed our ConnectWise Education team, the folks in charge of educating and training you – the community!  Education team members are your friends, helping you uncover wonderful system features you never even knew existed.  Why is that important?

  • The average utilization/adoption of ConnectWise within an organization is about 40%.
  • Having an audit performed and sticking to the plan brings that utilization rate up to over 85%.

These folks help partners optimize their investment in their business operating system, really uncovering the power of the platform so you can automate across your organization.  That’s right, they’re our experts, and they’re even the ones I turn to when I have a question about ConnectWise. :)

You may recognize these three lovely faces from how-to videos on ConnectWise University, User Group meetings, or an individual consulting session. You’ve seen them, now get to know them: Continue Reading →

Top Five Tools to Become a ConnectWise Guru

ConnectWise-U-logoAre you a new ConnectWise partner and wondering where to get started? Well, get pumped and get your “Wise” on because here are five of my favorite tools to get ConnectWise brain food and answers to all ConnectWise related questions.  The best part is all of these tools are found in ONE spot and available to all of our ConnectWise partners in the ConnectWise University.  Take full advantage of these powerful resources:

1)      ConnectWise Life Cycle Blueprint  This provides you with a high level diagram of how things flow within ConnectWise, from beginning to end. Definitely a GOLD mine if you want to understand how to navigate through the ConnectWise modules. Click on each icon in this graphic to see a video explaining the function and process behind each of the stages in the ConnectWise Life Cycle.

2)      ConnectWise Video Library  Although you won’t find the hottest Hollywood hits here, you better get some popcorn ready because there are over 300 videos you can watch anywhere and at any time. The library is broken down into three parts:

  1. ConnectWise TV:  Executive level business cases of topics, typically lasting an hour. This includes our Triple Partner Profits series that show you Best Practices within ConnectWise that will help grow and improve your business.

API, XML, SOAP … Oh My!

IntegrationWhy is integration so important to ConnectWise and why should partners care about the quality and quantity of integrations driven by a vendor they partner with?

No man is an island.  Just like human beings do not thrive when isolated from others, the same could be said about companies and namely technology companies.  ConnectWise  continually pursues integration and partnerships with a wide variety of technology companies with one goal in mind:  creating success for our partners.

This may be a bold statement, but I would assert that integrations will touch some part of a partner’s business at some time.  Whether it’s with your accounting system or an RMM solution, integration is no longer a luxury, but a critical part of ensuring the viability and success of your business.  Here are three benefits to integration:

Mission: Success

Mission: Success

My travels have required some unique packing lately as I fill my suitcase with combat boots, a utility belt, a Bluetooth headset, and lasers.

Yes, I am risking a lot of weird looks as I fill up the trays in the airport security lines, but it is all worth it because I am on a Mission.  A serious Mission to bring you … Success!  We’re strapping up our boots, packing our utility belts with business cards and sharpies, hooking up our Bluetooth ear-pieces and shooting some lasers (not real ones, don’t worry) to bring you success with … drum roll please … MyOfficeBundle!

Sounds pretty awesome, right?  That’s because it is!  It’s not just a trade show theme, but rather a new umbrella brand for ConnectWise, LabTech and Quosal, where ensuring partners’ success is our mission.

So you will see us dressed up like agents from Mission: Impossible; the only difference is that we won’t actually be hanging from the ceiling from a wire.  What we will be talking about and sharing on our mission is something much more exciting than a cool Hollywood movie stunt.  What we bring are the tools for you to achieve YOUR SUCCESS!

So what’s the plan to take you from Mission: Impossible to Mission: Success?  First, we want to know what your definition of success is.  Is it to make more money and increase profitability?  Maybe it’s to get more time with your family.  Or perhaps, it’s to build your business and sell it so you can retire on the beach somewhere in the Caribbean.  No matter what it is, you need to have that vision of success defined. What is the BEST Part of User Groups?

By popular response: Partner Collaboration!

Do you know when I get my best ideas… my biggest A-HA moments? It is when I’m on the road chatting with MyOffice partners.  ConnectWise, LabTech, Quosal partners come up with some pretty rad ideas about how to run an IT business and are always quick to share their best practices with me, and with each other. We met with over 1500 partners at our Q1 workshops and user groups, all bringing their own unique perspective and creativity to business solutions and concerns. Here are some of the biggest takeaways learned this quarter:

  • “The only thing I have is time.” Partners are looking for simple integrations, a single point of contact from vendor partners and increased automation between Professional Services Automation (PSA) platform, Remote Monitoring and Management (RMM) platform and Quoting platforms.
  • Trending topics:  Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) per user pricing and Office 365.
  • There is still confusion over the cloud. What is it? WHERE is it? End users are still “cloudy” on the meaning, so a helpful tip for explaining it is to use the word “solution” instead of cloud.
  • Service boards are used for more than just service tickets! We heard a lot about HR boards, used to onboard, hire, recruit and terminate employees.
  • The best part of our quarterly events: networking and collaborating with peers. Getting out and sharing leads to innovation, innovation leads to growth.

Don’t just take it from me! Hear it from our partners!

From Speakin’ Teach to Speakin’ Geek!

Hello IT NATION!

Not too long ago, my days were filled with monkey bars, spelling tests and school bells….and now my days are loaded with tickets, service boards, ConnectWise, and trade shows!

As the new team lead for events on the phenomenal Community team, my journey in the IT world has just begun!  My first stop on this wild ride was Digium Asterisk World/IT EXPO in Miami.  Stepping onto the tradeshow floor was not really all that different from teaching (minus the age of the audience and the verbiage).  I felt right in my element and loved discussing, sharing and educating potential partners on just how life changing ConnectWise truly is.  Over the three days, I was able to educate potential partners about how ConnectWise automates daily business functions including quoting new telephony projects, deploying service technicians, and managing tickets (and that was just before noon!).  The list of ways ConnectWise could help within the telephony market continued to develop as the day passed.  Attendees’ discussions about procurement, invoicing and customer relationship management kept turning us toward the same solution: ConnectWise will create visibility and accountability across all components of your business, allowing your business to run more efficiently.

Luckily for me, the fun didn’t end there…meeting current partners was just the icing on the cake (and I love cake, a lot)

Now, I’m not psychic but I know what you’re wondering…Where am I headed next?

I’m hitting the road with MyOfficeBundle and becoming part of a greater solution that offers complete end-to-end lifecycle management.  My upcoming performance will be at HP Global Partner Conference in Las Vegas, where you can get my autograph as I demonstrate how MyOffice Bundle: ConnectWise, LabTech and Quosal create the solution your business needs to achieve a higher level of success.

MyOfficeBundle allows you to create a quote and proposal with Quosal, the quote will automatically populate within ConnectWise.  From ConnectWise you can track that opportunity through to WON, work the ticket and invoice the ticket out to the customer.  Next, with LabTech, you can easily monitor and manage your customers with the RMM application that is tightly integrated with ConnectWise so the services you provide to your customer are reported and billed to the ticket.  ConnectWise, LabTech and Quosal are the solution you’ve been looking for to automate your managed services business easily and efficiently.  Am I speaking geek yet? Feel free to quiz me with an acronym spelling bee (RMM, MDM, BDR, PSA).  Class is in session for this teacher!

Join me and MyOfficeBundle out on the road and learn the true value of a bundle!

The Pulse of Support

myofficebundleAs a member of the Home Team here at MyOfficeBundle, as opposed to one of the bright smiling faces of the Travel Team that you may see at a User Group Meeting or a tradeshow, I have the opportunity to interact with our Partners when they come to visit the MyOfficeBundle headquarters. In fact, we have visitors at least once a week who are here for everything from consulting sessions, LabTech Bootcamps, to be guests on ConnectWise tv, or even just to escape from the cold Midwestern winter.

When our Partners are here I have the privilege of giving them a tour of our home and, inevitably, I am asked the most questions about our full ConnectWise and LabTech Partner Support teams and Quosal tier one support that are here in Tampa.

Since this is one of my most requested items on the tour I thought I would give everyone the inside scoop.
